GIDEON BAY
Location Highlights:
Gideon Bay is located west of Excelsior Bay and southwest of Lower Lake Minnetonka, Sunrise Pointe and Commons Peninsula provides its northern and southern borders. Sunrise Pointe’s residences showcase some of the best views of the lake, as it overlooks the sun rising from the east. Commons Peninsula is home to fan favorites: Excelsior Public Beach and Excelsior Commons. The bay has depths of 51 feet and nearly 4.5 miles of shoreline in Excelsior, Shorewood, and Tonka Bay. The homes on Gideon Bay are located in the Minnetonka School District.
Water Quality:
The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District has historically given Gideon Bay an A in water quality. The water is crystal clear, and recreational users can enjoy the bay at any time of the year.
Boating Restrictions:
None
Lake Access:
Gideon Bay does not have a marina, but on the opposite side of Sunrise Point on Echo Bay is the Tonka Bay Marina, with six acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The marina offers over 100 deep-water slips, each with easy access to water and electrical hookups. Tonka Bay Marina is home to Lake Minnetonka’s largest and most advanced travel lift system yet. The latest lift service technology is available to the public through an appointment from Tonka Bay Marina.
Amenities:
The real estate on Gideon Bay is mainly residential. The exception is Old Orchard Park- located next to Tonka Bay City Hall. Old Orchard Park has a swing set, barbeque grills, and fishing piers. The city of Tonka Bay owns Old Orchard Park and offers annual dock slips to residents, boat slides, and canoe racks available to rent. However, it is essential to note that the dock slips have a several-year waiting list.
