ST. LOUIS BAY
Location Highlights:
St. Louis Bay is north of Carsons Bay on Lower Lake Minnetonka. The bay is located in the beautiful city of Deephaven in the Minnetonka School District. A residential highlight on the bay is Sunset Point, an excellent spot to enjoy evenings on the lake, watching as the sun goes down over Lower Lake and the water reflects the sky above. St. Louis Bay is home to Lighthouse Island and Bug Island, and both are owned and operated by the Minnetonka Yacht Club.
Water Quality:
The maximum water depth of St. Louis Bay is 38 feet, and it has an A water quality by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. Meaning the water is crystal clear and can be enjoyed recreationally year-round.
Boating Restrictions:
No wake zone
Lake Access:
St. Louis Bay is home to the Minnetonka Yacht Club, one of the oldest yacht clubs in the country. There are three locations near the bay, Light House Island and Bug Island are directly on St. Louis Bay, and the Deephaven location is on Carsons Bay. The Minnetonka Yacht Club promotes and encourages sailing to members of all ages. The Light House Island location is the flagship of the Lake Minnetonka Sailing School. The island offers a clubhouse, picnic grounds, and restrooms. Bug Island is primarily used for boat storage during the sailing season.
Amenities:
The park, Deephaven Beach, owned by the city of Deephaven, resides on St. Louis Bay. The beach is one of the most popular beaches in Deephaven. It has plenty of swimming areas and on-duty lifeguards from noon to 7 pm daily. Just outside of St. Louis Bay is Nocomo Beach in Carsons Bay. The beach does not have stationed lifeguards but is tucked away in a residential community, so it is guaranteed to be less busy than Deephaven Beach.
