CARSONS BAY

DNR Lake ID: 27013303

Location Highlights:

Carsons Bay is southwest of St. Louis Bay on Lower Lake Minnetonka. The bay is located in the beautiful city of Deephaven and comprises Grandview Point and Minnetonka Boulevard. Homes on Carsons Bay are located in the Minnetonka School District, with Deephaven Elementary School just minutes away from any house on Carsons Bay. Grandview Point is an exciting area with some of Lake Minnetonka's most beautiful boathouses.

Water Quality:
The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District gives Carsons Bay an A in water quality. The water is crystal clear and can be enjoyed recreationally all year round.

Boating Restrictions:
A no-wake regulation is instituted on Carsons Bay; because of this, fishing is popular in the bay. Some of the most common species caught here are Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, and Northern Pike.

Lake Access:

Carsons Bay is home to the Minnetonka Yacht Club (MYC)- one of the oldest yacht clubs in the country. There are two locations for MYC- one in Deephaven, directly on Carsons Bay, and another on Light House Island in St. Louis Bay. The MYC promotes and encourages sailing to members of all ages. Some amenities of the Deephaven location for MYC's members are access to boat launching facilities, boat slips, ramps, and mooring buoys for sailboats and motorboats. Another boat launch option is the Carsons Bay Boat Launch, right on Minnetonka Boulevard, which can launch boats in and out of the water.

Amenities:

Walden Beach, on Carsons Bay, is a public swimming beach. The beach has no stationed lifeguards but offers free parking, picnic tables, and public restrooms. Outside of Carsons Bay is Sandy Beach on Lower Lake Minnetonka and Deephaven Beach on St. Louis Bay, both stationed lifeguards from noon until 6 p.m.
