SMITHS BAY
Location Highlights:
Smiths Bay is just between Crystal Bay and Browns Bay, with Arcola Bridge and Bracketts Point providing its eastern and western borders. Smiths Bay is home to some of the best views on the lake, as it overlooks North Lower Lake East. Homes on the bay showcase some of the most beautiful views on Lake Minnetonka and are in Wayzata and Orono. The homes are located in the Wayzata and Orono School Districts. The bay provides easy access to the large lake while being tucked away from the winds of the large Lake Minnetonka. Bracketts Point allows residents to escape the busy city while still only 15 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. The point displays lakeside views nearly 180 degrees around and exhibits beautiful views of the large lake.
Water Quality:
The maximum water depth in Smiths Bay is 80 feet and has an A rating for water quality by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. The water is crystal clear and can be enjoyed recreationally all year round.

Lake Access:
Smiths Bay does not have any boat launches or marinas, but there is an abundance of marinas in the neighboring Browns Bay. The Marianas include North Shore Marina and Browns Bay Marina, which allow easy access to Lake Minnetonka, dock slips, and off-season storage. Smiths Bay may not be home to any marinas, but it is home to a branch of Your Boat Club, which grants boat rentals seven days a week from late spring to early fall.

Smiths Bay’s flourishing popularity and convenient location make it easy to find attractions year-round. Nearby in the heart of Lake Minnetonka, Big Island Nature Park is an excellent spot for camping, fishing, and hiking. The park offers 20 campsites with fire pits, picnic tables, and grills. Big Island has a variety of fish species, including Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Perch, and Crappie, ready to be caught right off the shore. Nearby in Wayzata Bay, downtown Wayzata presents an abundance of shopping, including local favorites, Sun and Slope, Shop 44 North, and Fashion Avenue 2. The public docks in Wayzata make it easy to catch a bite to eat at restaurants like Giannis Steakhouse, COV, and Wayzata Bar and Grill.
