Deephaven Highlights:
Deephaven is a charming lakeside community rich in history and local traditions. Once home to luxury hotels like the Hotel St Louis and the Keewaydin Hotel, which attracted summer vacationers nationwide before both were lost to fires, Deephaven has maintained its appeal through its vibrant community spirit. The Minnetonka Yacht Club, founded in 1882 and one of the oldest in the country, offers residents premier waterfront facilities on Lighthouse Island and Carson’s Bay. A true heart of the city is the Cottagewood General Store, a beloved local landmark since 1895, where families gather for events like Grill Nights and holiday celebrations, keeping small-town Americana alive. With highly sought-after neighborhoods like Cottagewood and multiple community docks, Deephaven combines a rich history, active waterfront living, and a strong sense of community that make it an inviting place to call home.
INSIDER TIPS

The Minnetonka Public School District is among the highest-performing school districts in Minnesota and the nation and proudly serves families in all or part of 10 communities: Minnetonka, Chanhassen, Deephaven, Eden Prairie, Excelsior, Greenwood, Shorewood, Tonka Bay, Victoria, and Woodland. MUNICIPAL BOAT SLIPS
The City of Deephaven offers a variety of boating amenities for residents, including 94 dock slips, 53 buoys, 15 shore spaces, 81 B2 slides, 20 B1 slides, 8 street-end slides (located in Cottagewood), and 48 canoe racks. These facilities are primarily located on Carson’s Bay and St. Louis Bay.
To join a mooring waitlist, you must be a Deephaven resident (owner or renter), live in the city between May 15 and October 1, and be at least 18 years old. Property owners are given priority over renters. Renters who receive a mooring can only hold it for one boating season and are not guaranteed renewal unless there are no property owners requesting that space type.
- Residents may join one or multiple mooring waitlists (e.g., dock, buoy, canoe rack) with a one-time $5 fee per list.
- Once on a list, you remain until you either move, request removal, or decline two offers.
- You cannot choose a specific bay or space initially, but after accepting your first offer, you may join a rotation waitlist to request a preferred location.
- When first offered a mooring, you may decline once and retain your position, but a second decline will result in removal from that list.
For more information or to check your waitlist status, visit the City of Deephaven's website, or call City Hall at 952-474-4755.
