Located just across the street from Lake Minnetonka, Lake Virginia currently shares a water culvert with Smithtown Bay but was directly connected to the big lake at one point. A public boat launch and a small fishing area are featured on the southwestern side of the lake, and the South Lake Virginia Shores Park, which offers recreational activities and beautiful tennis courts. It's said that Lake Virginia was named after the state of Virginia, the native home of a large share of the early settlers in the area.
