By 1887, the land a block east of the West Arm Townhomes became home to the Hotel Del Otero and Casino. James J. Hill constructed the hotel as a destination resort for his railroad. The hotel’s extensive grounds had a dancing pavilion, bowling alley, and individual cottages that still exist today. The hotel was a large part of Spring Park for 60 years until it burned down in 1945.
