History:
The history of Huntington Point dates back to 1855, according to records of the first settlers. However, the point was not officially opened for settlement until 1872. Huntington Point was officially surveyed, platted, and named a part of Minnetonka Beach in 1883. While Minnetonka Beach became home to the Lafayette Hotel, Huntington Point began residential development with the production of small cottages on Lake Minnetonka. The cottages were owned by tourists who would arrive by St. Paul and Pacific Railway to stay on Lake Minnetonka in the summer months.
