The island is known for its beautiful sunsets, public dock, and sandy beach. Enchanted Island is connected to Shady Island by a small land bridge. History:

Enchanted Island was home to the Maple Heights Inn during the peak years of Lake Minnetonka tourism. The inn was owned and operated by J.H. Woolnough; the three-story structure sat on a hill overlooking the lake, complete with a long staircase down to the shore. Maple Heights Inn also had a boathouse on the water, equipped with rowboats that children would take to venture out to Black Lake to go fishing. Many visitors arrived at the inn’s dock via steamboat. By the 1890s, the railroad running along Lake Minnetonka extended to Spring Park, and yellow streetcars replaced the large steamboats that had ruled the lake for many years. A majority of guests at the inn were families and bass fishers.

Enchanted Island is an ideal escape from the busy crowds at parks and beaches on Lake Minnetonka. The bay is a great spot to swim, fish, kayak, or boat as the weather gets warm. In the winter, Phelps Bay is famous amongst ice fishers, and the bay is packed with ice houses from the minute the lake freezes until the first Monday in March. Common catches in the bay include Sunfish, Perch, and Crappies.
