SPRING PARK

A bustling Lake Minnetonka hub

Spring Park is located in Hennepin County.  It is located on Lake Minnetonka and has over 4 miles of shoreline while being less than 0.5 square miles in area.  The population is around 2,000 people.  Spring Park has lakeshore on West Arm Bay, Black Lake and Spring Park Bay.  The city has approximately 300 households, 7 apartment buildings, and 60 businesses.  Spring Park is also the headquarters of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Water Patrol.

Spring Park was one of the popular tourist destinations during the “Glory Days” of Lake Minnetonka.  The majestic Hotel del Otero, constructed by James J. Hill in 1885, was quite the destination.  The hotel had a steady stream of customers from the 15 passenger trains that stopped there a day!  The hotel changed hands several times during its life and eventually burned down in 1945.  The scorched shell of the hotel stood as a reminder of the “glory days” until the 1960’s.  Now, the Mist Apartments sit on the original site of the hotel.

The city was incorporated in 1951 and had a population of only 200 when it was formed.  Spring Park has never lost its tourist charm though with a constant stream of people coming to the popular waterfront restaurant, Lord Fletcher’s, the weekly classic car exhibitions at Minnetonka Drive-in, or the walk-up Dairy Queen.

The city of Spring Park is served by the Orono Police Department and the Mound Fire Department.  The overall crime rate in Spring Park is 85% lower than the national average and Spring Park is considered safer than 91% of cities in the United States.

Dining and Retail
Spring Park has a strong local economy with over 60 businesses located in the city. Definite highlights in Spring Park are the local favorite Lord Fletchers and the Minnetonka Drive-in.  Lord Fletchers is accessible by land or water and has two different dining options to fit your needs.  Upstairs is a sit-down steakhouse and offers some of the best cuisine in the area.  Their walleye is not to be missed!  The Wharf is lake-side seating and is a relaxed atmosphere where it's perfectly acceptable to stop in after a day on the lake!

Also located in Spring Park is Rockvam Boat Yards.  Marina Dock Age Magazine just recognized this family owned marina as the National Marina of the Year!  Joyce and Jerry Rockvam started the marina in 1961 and have grown the business from the ground up.  Rockvam Boat Yards offers wet slip dockage, dry stack dockage, boat repair and service, daily boat rentals and a boat club.  If you're looking to get out on the lake, consider Rockvam Boat Yards for a daily pontoon rental.  It's a nice way to experience the lake and see what areas you like best before committing to a location.
