Originally, Boulder Bridge Farm was named Rose Farm. The land was once a large farm on Lake Minnetonka. In 1926, George Nelson and Grace Dayton purchased the farm and renamed the estate Boulder Bridge. The Daytons expanded the farm from 90 to 800 acres. They raised over two hundred cows, seventy horses, other livestock, and crops to feed the animals. The farm also distributed milk and cream to the tea rooms in Dayton's department stores. In 1976, a Lake Minnetonka developer, Tom Wartman, purchased the property. In the eighties, he subdivided the 90 acres into 44 homesites and walking trails. Wanting to pay homage to the farm's rich history, he renamed the community Boulder Bridge Farm.
