Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt 2018
‘Tis the season for merry making and gift giving! Looking for something fun to do Thanksgiving weekend? Bring the whole family out to the 13th Annual Christkindlsmarkt in downtown Excelsior! Christkindlsmarkt is a traditional German Christmas festival that is held the three days after Thanksgiving (November 23-25). It is a celebration of the holiday season with shopping and activities for everyone!
The festival kicks off on Friday at 10 AM with the Grand Opening Parade. Father Christmas, the Grand Marshall, the Excelsior Queen and many more lead the parade down Main Street to the official ribbon cutting ceremony. The festival officially opens at 10:15 AM and there are three activity packed days to keep your crew happy.
The open-air market (dress warmly!) will feature German Christmas traditions, delicious grilled sausages, roasted nuts and other food vendors, children’s activities, and shopping through 7PM each night. However, adults can keep the fun going until 10 PM at the Biergarten. The Biergarten will be held in the parking lot of the Excelsior Brewing Company. Their schedule for the weekend can be found here.
The kids will not be disappointed with the KinderWorld. It is a Sugar Plum Fairy themed center (did we mentioned heated) with a packed schedule full of fun activities. There will be storytelling, a balloon artist, Enchanted Frozen Princesses, Christmas Music, and Father Christmas each day. The KinderWorld schedule can be found here.
The activities and events continue throughout the whole festival. On Saturday night, there is a Children’s Lighted Lantern Parade. Additionally, the North Pole Trolley will run throughout the weekend giving you the opportunity to ride on a festive trolley with Father Christmas. The Trolley’s schedule can be found here. And don’t miss out on the LIVE Alaskan Reindeer. It might be your last chance to catch them before their big night in December!
The festival will run through Sunday November 25th. The full event calendar can be found here.
