History:
Bayshore and Baycliffe’s history dates back to the early 1900s when streetcars and steamships ran Lake Minnetonka. The Twin City, Rapid Transit Company, planned to expand its reach and constructed a route from downtown Wayzata to Zumbra Heights. Today, the Bayshore and Baycliffe neighborhoods occupy Zumbra Heights. The remote and sparsely populated Zumbra Heights was known as the most remote spot on the lake, and it took over an hour and a half to commute from downtown Minneapolis. The construction of homes in Bayshore and Baycliffe began in 1905, and homeowners utilized the streetcars and steamships to commute to Minneapolis.
